Capacity is nominal (full tank). Pressure is static at grade, before pipe friction losses. Final dimensions and member sizes come from engineering for your site.

What we build

Water Towers by Trait grew out of Trait LLC, a Texas structural steel and metal fabrication contractor. We design, fabricate, erect and maintain towers for ranches, homes, developments and municipalities.

Towers with tanks included

A complete system: leg structure, tank, riser, ladder, balcony and coatings, delivered and erected as one scope.

Platforms for your tank

Elevated steel stands for poly or steel tanks you already own or plan to buy. Sized to the tank's full water weight. Need ground-level storage instead? See FastTanks.

Decorative and landmark towers

Statement towers for developments, HOAs, venues and brand sites. Working or non-potable, with custom color and lettering. Preview yours.

Design to maintenance

One team from first sketch through inspections, recoating and repairs for the life of the tower. See the process.

0.433 PSI / FT

Height is pressure

A water tower pressurizes your system with gravity. Every foot of water above a tap adds 0.433 psi of static pressure, so tower height sets the pressure and tank size sets how long you can draw at it. Set your height in the configurator to see psi at grade. Taps uphill or upstairs see less; long pipe runs lose some to friction.

From configuration to commissioning

Every tower follows the same path. You can start with the configurator above, a quote request or a call to 877-321-GATE.

  1. Configure

Send us the tower you built here, or your height, capacity and site. We respond with scope and a budget range.

  2. Site and engineering

We review soils, wind exposure and access, then produce engineered drawings and a foundation design for your site.

  3. Fabrication

Legs, bracing, tank and accessories are cut, welded and coated in our Argyle, Texas shop.

  4. Foundations and erection

Piers go in, the structure goes up, and the tank is set and secured.

  5. Tie-in and commissioning

For working water service, potable connections and testing are completed with our water-system integration partner.

  6. Maintenance

Scheduled inspections, recoating and repairs keep the tower sound and looking right.

Questions

Straight answers to what owners and developers ask first.

Can a tower be decorative only?

Yes. Many of our towers are landmarks for developments, HOAs and venues. They can hold water, sit empty, or serve a non-potable use like irrigation. The structure is engineered either way.

Do you handle drinking water connections?

Yes. Potable tie-ins to municipal or private systems are completed with our water-system integration partner, who handles connections, disinfection and testing. See tie-in and commissioning.

How tall can you go?

The configurator covers 16 to 160 feet to the bottom of the tank and up to 2,000,000 gallons. Taller or larger towers are reviewed project by project; send us the details.

Are the configurator numbers final?

They are planning numbers. Capacity is the nominal full volume, and pressure is static at grade before friction losses. Engineering sets final dimensions, member sizes and foundations for your site's wind, seismic and soil conditions.

Where do you work?

We are based in North Texas and build nationwide. Steel is fabricated in the Trait LLC shop in Argyle and shipped to site.
